Tower of Power Live • What Is Hip?
The quintessential funk/groove band for a couple generations has been, and remains Tower of Power, based out of Oakland, CA. I had the good fortune to see them a couple times right here in little old Naples in the early 90s. Seeing Doc Kupka perform on bari sax, and David Garibaldi on drums is still one of my biggest joys.
Enjoy the keyboards, drums and bass as they lay down the most perfect groove heard in music. Catch the horn section on David Letterman as they sit in quite often, and enjoy this clip from not too far back. Make sure you set it to 480p on the buttons, so you’ll enjoy the best sound and picture quality. Its worth it.

That Band is the hottest horn band ever!!
How about that drummer!
If you never have seen them perform Live it needs to be on your Bucket List.
I had the oppertunity to have the Horn section on stage with a band I was in Blues Other Brothers. We were playing in Philly and they were the horn band for Huey Louis and the News Sports album, got to meet them all, Great Guy’s.
